The Italian architect Renzo Piano is famous for his striking designs and none more so than the building that we’re getting here in the captial. The London Shard is part of the new London Bridge Quarter development and it is going to look incredible when it’s finished.  When completed in 2012 it will be the tallest building in the UK and one of the tallest buildings in europe. We can’t wait to get up to the public viewing gallery when it opens. For more information and some stunning images check out the website: http://www.shardlondonbridge.com/

Have a taster of Caffeine

Not to be outdone by Microsoft’s new shiny search engine ‘Bing’ – google have been secretly working away on their new engine – codenamed ‘Caffeine’.  However, unlike Microsoft – the changes in Caffeine are all back end – changes to increase speed and relevency of the search results.

On their blog google say – “For the last several months, a large team of Googlers has been working on a secret project: a next-generation architecture for Google’s web search,” the company wrote on its blog. “It’s the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions.”

What we’re looking at then, is faster more relevent searches and whilst all the bells and whistle of front end UI changes are nice – i’m glad that Google aren’t tinkering for tinkering sake – the great thing about it as a seach engine is it’s simplicity – after all.
